Senior Software Architect (Gameplay)

As the Senior Software Architect of Gameplay, you will lead a group of engineers to create high quality action gameplay systems across the entire game and work closely with design, tech design and art to achieve great content pipelines to use those systems. You will architect, design and code gameplay systems with your team; we believe the best way to lead is to be deeply connected to the technology your team is creating so this role will be highly technical.

Benefits

In the United States, the standard base pay range for this role is $171,000 $282,000 annually. This base pay range is not applicable to locations outside of the U.S., and those interviewing from outside of the U.S. can inquire accordingly. Actual amounts will vary depending on experience and performance. In addition to competitive base pay, employees in this role are eligible for equity, healthcare benefits, flexible paid time off, paid family leave, company-wide holidays, and relocation assistance where applicable.

Responsibilities

  • Work with other disciplines and stakeholders to understand the gameplay outcomes we’re trying to achieve and ensure we’re creating technical plans to achieve them
  • Audit development plans including technical designs, processes, resource usage, task estimates, quality and risk for technical completion and quality
  • Collaborate with engineers, designers and artists to create gameplay features and tools across a wide range of experiential areas.
  • Manage Technical Risks and Mitigation plans for the gameplay strategy
  • Ensure systems we create are performant, tested, and ready for prime time when we ship across all of our device targets.
  • Contribute ideas towards all aspects of game development within the team

Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years of industry experience with multiple shipped titles
  • Experience in leadership positions with technology backgrounds, or experience as a technical director/gameplay lead programmer in production of large high-quality game(s)
  • Experience building scalable, stable, and secure architectures, in a live service environment
  • Expert level understanding of 3d game development including rendering, animation, network, input and gameplay.
  • Experience with Unreal Engine.
  • Excellent coding and debugging skills
  • Strong math skills (linear algebra and trigonometry)
  • Passion for games
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent training and professional experience

  • Experience developing both mobile and PC games
  • Expert level understanding of C++
